Warm your shoulders while keeping your hands free with this dashing capelet. Pleats at the neck and shoulders and colorwork on the inside hem add flair (and flare!). The glowing color calls to mind Cotswold stone, a naturally yellow limestone native to the Cotswolds.

Yarn
Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted (100% superwash merino wool): Buffalo Grove (yellow; MC), 3 skeins; #612 Cornelia (multi; CC), 1 skein.

Needles
Sizes 4 (3.5 mm) and 7 (4.5 mm): 24” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge
19 sts and 23 rows = 4” in St st on larger needle.

Size
11.25 (12.25, 14.25)” across back from center of pleat to center of pleat. Cape shown measures 11.25”; modeled on a 33” bust.

Notions
Removable marker; tapestry needle; waste yarn for provisional CO; two size 7 (4.5 mm) or smaller double-pointed needles; spare size 4 (3.5 mm) or smaller 24” circular needle.

Helpful Notes
This cape is worked back and forth from the bottom up, beginning with 4 rows of simple colorwork that form the inside of the turned hem. About 7 (8, 9) yards of contrasting color are used for the hem.
