It’s #bpsewvember and I’m very happy to meet you! I love to sew 🧵 and have been getting in to it for about 10 years. I started out with costumes because the stakes seemed really low. I had to work up the courage to start making “real life” clothes and now I’m stepping up the challenge to men’s tailored shirts and properly fitting pants! Corning Museum of Glass was a beautiful part of my recent upstate NY road trip!

Not so much a me made today, but instead a re-made (?). Rather, a fixing situation. I got this lovely skirt on vacation, a very fun way to souvenir 😃 Problem is, the waist was oddly long and straight, which lead to an undesirious gaping at my natural waist because I am certainly not straight up and down. I was nervous to do some skirt surgery, as this was both expensive AND a souvenir, but I’m glad I unpicked the waistband and gentle sloped it in at the sides because now it fits much better! Sewing skills and a bit of bravery to the rescue!

Pleased with this @byhandlondon Alix dress in some lovely red rayon. This is its second time out; the debut was @hamiltonfrocktails in the spring. Highly recommend this pattern. Very graceful and pretty straightforward to sew. Didn’t alter anything except length. I must admit that this lays nice and flat because of some well-placed lingerie tape. I think I miiight try to alter the bodice a bit should I sew another one of these. #sewistsofinstagram #bhlalix #sewists

Lander shorts! I’m really pleased with how these came out. I did have to take them in a bit to suit my tastes, but the fit (with the help of the instructor @withlovelingerie at my local sewing shop @needlework_hamilton!) came out great! I’m thinking of making a full length pair for the autumn, but I’m not sure I’m on board with Teresa’s Return to Flares... #sewistsofinstagram #landerpants #landershorts
